My Home Base – Nick Johnson, Jet Linx National Operations Center

In each edition of My Home Base, we feature a member of the Jet Linx team from across the country and showcase what they feel makes their Jet Linx location and their city special. In this edition, meet Nick Johnson, Fleet Optimization Manager at the Jet Linx National Operations Center in Omaha.

Favorite part of your job: Collaborating with my team to come up with creative solutions to really complex problems. It’s a very social environment at the NOC, which I really enjoy.

Describe the Jet Linx experience/team in one word: Dedication! Our team members are working hard at all hours and always (always!) trying to improve.

Favorite Jet Linx memory or experience: Moving into the new National Operations Center felt like a culmination of many years of effort from many people. I’m very proud of our facility.

Favorite thing about Omaha: The short commute we have compared to other larger cities, and the Old Market.

Little known fact about yourself: I’m the founding member and captain of the Jet Linx Movember Team, raising money each year for men’s health issues. Last year we had over 30 members and raised over $3,000!

What might someone find surprising about your job? Even with all of the technological advances in our industry, my team and I still do a lot of the schedule optimization “dirty work” by hand with notepads, pens, and good old-fashioned calculators.
