JET LINX ST. LOUIS LOCAL HISTORY
Lambert is one of the most historically significant airports in American aviation: in 1928 it became the first city-owned, municipally operated airport in the United States. The airport is named for Major Albert Bond Lambert, an Olympic golfer and aviation pioneer who personally financed much of the airport's early development. Charles Lindbergh was a barnstormer based at Lambert before his 1927 transatlantic flight in the Spirit of St. Louis.
