Jet Linx Fleet Spotlight: Cessna Citation Excel

Slightly larger and more comfortable than Light Jets, Midsize Jets offer added capability and range, as well as more versatility and flexibility for a discerning traveler or business executive flying private.

Nearly one-third of all flights carried out at Jet Linx are completed by our fleet of Midsize Jets. The Cessna Citation Excel offers exceptional value and comfort no matter your mission profile when flying private, which explains its popularity among our Jet Card Members and Aircraft Owners.

The Citation Excel received FAA Certification in 1998 and ended production in 2004, but its appeal remains strong to this day due to its performance capability and reliability. First and foremost, the Citation Excel is known for its impressive performance. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545A engines, this jet can reach a maximum speed of approximately 450 knots (518 mph). With its remarkable speed, it allows passengers to reach their destinations quickly and efficiently, saving valuable time.

Additionally, the Citation Excel has an impressive range, enabling nonstop flights between various destinations. It can cover a distance of approximately 1,906 miles which means it can easily fly from Jet Linx New York to Jet Linx Miami or London to Moscow without the need for refueling. This extended range enhances travel flexibility and convenience for passengers, making it an ideal choice for both short-haul and mid-range flights. The Citation Excel is also capable of taking off from runways as short as 3,500 feet, allowing access to thousands of smaller, remote runways.

A Cabin Maximized for Comfort

The cabin of the Citation Excel is meticulously designed to provide a luxurious and comfortable environment for passengers flying private. All in all, the cabin measures 18.7 feet long, 5.7 feet tall (in the trenched center aisle) and 5.6 feet wide, yielding 461 cubic feet of space. Excels were available with a variety of floor plans but the most popular one features a forward galley and closet, side-facing two-place divan followed by six single executive seats. With a spacious interior, the jet can accommodate up to nine passengers, offering ample room for relaxation and productivity. The cabin features comfortable leather seats, which can be adjusted to individual preferences, allowing passengers to find their perfect seating position.

Furthermore, the cabin amenities on the Citation Excel are designed to enhance the travel experience. Passengers can enjoy a quiet and peaceful journey due to the advanced soundproofing technology incorporated into the aircraft. This feature reduces external noise, providing a tranquil and comfortable environment for work or relaxation.

The jet’s cabin is also equipped with modern avionics systems, including a state-of-the-art entertainment system. Passengers can enjoy high-definition video and audio entertainment options, ensuring an enjoyable flight experience. The onboard Wi-Fi connectivity enables passengers to stay connected, browse the internet, and remain productive throughout the flight. While the galley works well for beverages and snacks, microwaves and warming ovens can be found on some retrofitted aircraft. However, the average mission time in an Excel hovers around just one hour, so the need for an extensive galley is quite minimal.

In terms of comfort, the Citation Excel offers a fully pressurized cabin, providing a controlled and comfortable environment even at high altitudes. The cabin is also equipped with a climate control system, allowing passengers to adjust the temperature to their preference. This ensures a pleasant and cozy atmosphere throughout the flight. The aircraft also features 90 cubic feet of baggage space, providing ample storage for personal belongings and luggage. This additional space is especially beneficial for those traveling with larger items or requiring multiple bags, business equipment or just golf clubs for a sublime golf retreat (consider Elevated Lifestyle partner Bunker Hill Farms for a truly resplendent golf getaway!).

The Citation Excel (Model 560XL) was the original version in the all-new Excel series of aircraft and was designed to compete in the more traditional twin-turboprop market. This wildly successful model is a trustworthy aircraft when flying private. Jet Linx currently manages six within our fleet, alongside eight Citation XLS and an additional 11 Citation XLS+, making this model a popular staple due to its premier cabin amenities and performance capabilities.
