My Home Base – Sheryl Clarke, Jet Linx National Operations Center
In each edition of My Home Base, we feature a member of the Jet Linx team from across the country and showcase what they feel makes their Jet Linx location and their city special. In this edition, meet Sheryl Clarke, Jet Linx Director of Safety.
Favorite part of your job: Contributing to the Jet Linx safety culture.
Describe the Jet Linx team in one word: Enthusiasm.
Favorite Jet Linx memory or experience: Hosting the annual Safety Summit last June.
Favorite thing about Omaha:The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.
Little known fact about yourself, or favorite hobby: I love creating things from raw materials. I make furniture items, renovate cabinets, turn pens on a lathe, etc. Right now I am working on designing and building a 10′ work bench out of red oak.
What might someone find surprising about your job: How rewarding it is from a job-satisfaction standpoint. System safety is working smarter and acting in a pro-active manner to prevent harm; it is not based on waiting for something to go horribly wrong and reacting with punishment. When you focus on continuous improvement and learning, and build the processes, training and calibration based on setting employees up to succeed, we are creating true safety and customer value.
