Golden Isles

Nestled on the Georgia coast, midway between Savannah, GA, and Jacksonville, FL, lies the mainland city of Brunswick and its four beautiful barrier islands off of Georgia: St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. The Golden Isles offers a rich and storied history: Spanish explorers seeking gold originally descended upon the territory more than 400 years ago, only to find golden islands rather than gold. Mild weather and a natural radiance inspired the area’s name, the Golden Isles.

Untouched stretches of marshland, punctuated by small islands known as hammocks, define the breathtaking landscape and create the appearance of a continuous stretch of land reaching out to the barrier islands off of Georgia. Sparkling rivers teeming with birds, fish, and other marine life flow calmly around these golden islands on their way to the Atlantic Ocean. Known for its pristine beaches, the Golden Isles is full of natural and historical attractions and interesting guided tours to fill your days.

The southernmost island of Georgia’s Golden Isles, Jekyll Island, offers expansive, undeveloped beaches and historic mansions once occupied by the likes of the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts. The island was home to the original Jekyll Island Club that was frequented by the world’s wealthiest and most powerful families. From its founding in 1888 to 1942, the club’s members at one time collectively held one-sixth of the world’s wealth. After falling out of fashion in the 1940s, the island transformed into a state park where its natural splendor has been carefully preserved.

While some of the historic buildings have been restored, visitors will be relieved to find no high-rise developments, only empty roads, wide skies, gnarled red cedars and live oaks dripping with Spanish moss. The charm of the island lies in just being there, observing the water and wandering the many calm beaches found packed inside the nine-square-mile island. A walk around the iconic Driftwood Beach, littered with bleached skeletons of oak trees, offers a romantic escape. St. Andrews Beach park makes a wonderful ‘secret beach’ as it is the most remote – and you can even spot dolphins from the shore.

Other than beaches, Jekyll Island offers many miles of nature trails, perfect for biking or hiking, and kayak tours are also a popular way to take in the calm waters and marshes. Wildlife on the island ranges from wild boars to baby dolphins to sea turtles. Guided walks offer the best chance to see rare wildlife.

Paradise Valley

For those that simply cannot stand the cold, KEY Anywhere suggests Paradise Valley, just a few minutes from Phoenix and Scottsdale. This year-round oasis provides the perfect setting for a getaway, with lavish spas, art galleries, restaurants and hotels for the ultimate pampering – plus many opportunities for activity and adventure. After touching down at Jet Linx Scottsdale (with a new private terminal coming soon!), you’ll want to kick off your journey with 53 acres of your own private paradise at Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa, a member of the Jet Linx Preferred Hotel Program.

Retreat to ultimate comfort within a spacious casita, suite or exclusive villa, each offering well-appointed amenities and the most spectacular views of the famed Camelback Mountain and surrounding vistas. Indulge in the award-winning culinary delights by Food Network star and Executive Chef Beau MacMillan at Elements and toast the Arizona sunset with handcrafted cocktails at locally renowned Jade Bar.

Paradise Valley offers many picture-perfect golf courses that regularly host PGA events, so you may have a tough time deciding on which to play – but KEY Anywhere can find you a tee time at any of the top courses. For a true desert golf experience, reserve a tee time in the Sonoran Desert on land owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, We-Ko-Pa. We-Ko-Pa offers two fantastic courses – Cholla and Saguaro. Unlike other Arizona golf courses, there are no homes, condos or townhomes lining these fairways…it is just you and the elements, with giant saguaros in the foreground framed by magnificent mountains in the distance. However, many other great courses can be found nearby, such as Troon North Golf Club, Wickenburg Ranch & Social Club, or TPC Scottsdale, home of the famous Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Aside from golf, shopping, and pool lounging, Paradise Valley features some of the American West’s most beautiful hiking trails. Mummy Mountain offers leisurely strolls just outside of the city, and the Mohave Trail, Tonto National Forest and of course – Camelback Mountain – all offer exhilarating desert views. KEY Anywhere can also coordinate guided hikes for more advanced trails or those curious about the desert ecosystem.

White Sands

It’s almost a miracle that the paradise of White Sands National Park hasn’t skyrocketed to fame, but other attractions like the Grand Canyon and quaint towns of Santa Fe and Taos keep this treasure in hiding. This shimmering oasis, consisting of 275 square miles of gypsum dunes, offers one of the most unusual and beautiful landscapes in the country. It’s also located in a remote area of the northern Chihuahuan Desert near Alamogordo, New Mexico, making it a perfect location for utilizing a private jet.

With more than 330 days of sunshine per year, there’s never a wrong time to visit, but be certain to pack plenty of water, sunscreen and a quality pair of sunglasses (consider Jet Linx Elevated Lifestyle partner REVO for the best shades). However, if you want to maximize the natural beauty, arrange a stay that coincides with a full moon for a glistening moonlight walk. Even on moonless nights, you’re still treated to some of the country’s most epic stargazing. Whatever or whenever you choose to arrive, a stay of at least 24 hours is recommended to see the mesmerizing shift of color palettes as the sun waxes and wanes across the landscape.

The best way to begin a day at White Sands National Park is to arrive early enough to catch a magical cotton-candy-hued sunrise. After absorbing the stunning surroundings, explore the otherworldly beauty on a 16-mile scenic Dune Drive Loop into the center of the dune fields. Picnic areas provide perfect pit stops and Instagram-worthy photo opportunities. Well-marked hiking trails of varying levels of difficulty can be found dotted all across the park. The Alkali Flat Trail works up quite the sweat while the Ranger-guided Sunset Stroll allows guests to learn about the area’s unique geology and flora/fauna.

Don’t miss out on the dune-sledding, and be sure to wax your saucer sufficiently. While some areas of the park may be more crowded than others, it’s not hard to find a whole row of dunes all to yourself. With a sled, a cooler and an umbrella, you can have yourself an epic desert picnic while the kids zip up and down the powdery-white hills.

White Sands National Park makes a great place to camp or glamp, as the nearest town lies 13 miles away and the nearest city sits more than 50 miles away. KEY Anywhere will expertly curate all the details of your trip, from a ranger-guided camping tour or a private photo shoot, to a hot- air balloon ride to take in the unparalleled views or a private tour of Spaceport America.
