My Home Base – Brian Walker, Jet Linx National Operations Center
In each edition of My Home Base, we feature a member of the Jet Linx team from across the country and showcase what they feel makes their Jet Linx location and their city special. In this edition, meet Brian Walker, Jet Linx Flight Coordination Director.
Favorite part of your job:Â Working with the Flight Coordination team and geeking out on meteorology, an important part of flight following.
Describe the Jet Linx experience in one word: Effort.
Favorite Jet Linx memory or experience: Teaching the Extreme Ownership leadership class to our Flight Coordination team. It’s based on the premise of being a leader means that you are ultimately responsible for the performance of your team.
Favorite thing about Omaha: Being the only person that flies a Notre Dame flag in our neighborhood. Go Irish!
Little known fact about yourself, or favorite hobby: My wife and I work on social justice committees in Omaha, working to fight racism, poverty, improving city transportation infrastructure, and supporting immigration and refugees.
What might someone find surprising about your job: There are times when the Jet Linx team has the ability to listen in on certain ATC frequencies to find out what’s going on with an aircraft, depending on where it is. Sometimes this is more efficient than having to call the crew time after time for updates.
