EVERYBODY NEEDS BEAUTY AS WELL AS BREAD, PLACES TO PLAY IN AND PRAY IN, WHERE NATURE MAY HEAL AND GIVE STRENGTH TO BODY AND SOUL ALIKE.

This quote from mountaineer and “father of the national parks” John Muir speaks to the genesis of the uniquely American idea to preserve land for public use. Before 1872, there was no precedent for setting aside land for preservation and enjoyment anywhere in the world. However, when photographs and paintings featuring the sublime beauty of Yellowstone were presented before Congress, they were compelled to withdraw the region from public action. Shortly thereafter, President Ulysses S. Grant signed The Act of Dedication, marking Yellowstone as the very first national park in the world on March 1, 1872.

Since that time, 58 national parks have been marked for preservation in the United States, encompassing more than 84 million acres of wildlands and historic sites. Volcanoes, glaciers, geysers, valleys, caves, and rock formations are just a few of the treasures that are protected inside the United States. Beyond the borders of the United States, there are more than 6,500 national parks and nature reserves where you can find equally pristine and unique landscapes.

With so many different parks and a short summer season to enjoy them, Jet Linx clients can count on the expert travel advisors at our Elevated Lifestyle partner, Huffman Travel, to craft the perfect itinerary. Jet Linx is ready to transport you to the most majestic, awe-inspiring landscapes on the planet. But first, we will leave you with the most difficult dilemma – choosing where to go!

salar de uyuni

You may not think 10 billion tons of salt would be exciting, but trust us, the Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia is one of most intimidating and beautiful landscapes on earth. Spanning more than 4,000 square miles at an altitude of 12,000 feet, it’s a mesmerizing moonscape where temperatures can swing 40 degrees in a day. As the largest salt flat in the world,  many visitors report feeling as if they have landed on a different planet. During the rainy season (January to April), the salt flats turn into the world’s largest mirror, measuring 80 miles across. Because the surface is composed of salt, there is virtually no wildlife in the area, but people travel here for the out-of-this-world scenery. To best experience Salar de Uyuni try Crillon Tours, known for their outfitted Airstream trailers.

iguazú falls

In 2011, Iguaz. Falls were recognized as one of the new Natural Wonders of the World. Iguaz. is composed of more than 275 distinct falls and large islands that form the largest waterfall system in the world. The geography of the falls also makes them unique, with a portion of the falls in Brazil, and the other half in Argentina. The chain of falls are the most famous part of Iguaz. National Park, but there are a variety of other activities to be enjoyed such as helicopter rides, moonlit tours, rafting and kayaking adventures. Due to the remote location in the Atlantic Rainforest, our Luxury Travel Advisors at Huffman Travel highly recommend Awasi Iguaz., situated on the banks of the River Iguaz., for high-class adventurists.

komodo national park

Indonesia is composed of more than 17,000 exquisite islands, but only a few are home to the exceedingly rare Komodo dragon. Komodo National Park is composed of 29 different islands. The park was founded in 1980 in order to protect the Komodo dragons, and is now also dedicated to marine preservation. The Komodo Islands are part of the Coral Triangle which is home to some of the richest biodiversity on earth: 1,000 species of fish, 260 species of reef-building coral, 70 species of sponges, sharks, manta rays, at least 14 species of whales, dolphins, and sea turtles. Because this National Park is separated by islands, Huffman Travel suggests the Prana by Atzaro yacht to best experience some of the most untouched islands on earth. Prana by Atzaro is the biggest Phinisi yacht in the world with more than 9,600 square feet.

banff & yoho national parks

Surrounded by frosted mountain peaks, the sublime Victoria Glacier and a glistening emerald lake, the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel is located in Alberta’s Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is recognized globally for progressive environmental stewardship and responsible tourism. Guided tours are highly encouraged, as they are led by award-winning naturalists  that can accommodate experiences for any skill level. The view out the Fairmont’s back door is dramatic and then some, with terraces and lawns that reach to the famous aquamarine lake, itself backed by the Victoria Glacier. Another nearby and equally impressive park, Yoho National Park, is not to be missed. Yoho comes from the Cree language meaning awe and wonder, which you will find a surplus of if you enter its boundaries.
