My Home Base – Rachel Balkovec, Jet Linx National Operations Center

Jan 8, 2018 | Team Spotlight

In each edition of My Home Base, we feature a member of the Jet Linx team from across the country and showcase what they feel makes their Jet Linx location and their city special. In this edition, meet Rachel Balkovec, Jet Linx Marketing Coordinator.

Favorite part of your job: Writing for our in house magazine, SOAR, generates diverse challenges which is where I thrive the most – from the extensive research on topics, collaborating with subject matter experts and team members, crafting stories and sourcing photography – seeing the final story come to life in each issue is an amazing feat, not only for me, but for our small and mighty marketing team!

Describe the Jet Linx team in one word:  Devoted. Every team member goes above and beyond for our clients and each other equally, executing our core values. I’ve never been part of a company that truly “walks the talk.” It’s refreshing!

Favorite Jet Linx memory or experience: Hands down, seeing for the first time in print, my stories in the Spring 2017 SOAR issue. Considering my English teacher my senior year of high school thought I would never succeed in writing, this warranted a little victory dance.

Favorite thing in your base city: The people! The cohesive Midwestern vibe makes you feel comfortable in this city.

Little known fact about yourself, or favorite hobby: I’m an avid supporter and volunteer for Pug Partners of Nebraska, a local pug rescue dedicated to rescuing and rehoming pugs. I also co-race direct Tails ‘n Trails Half Marathon, 10k, 5k and 1 Mile Walk – the only one of its kind in the Omaha/Lincoln area dedicated to raising funds for three non-profit animal rescues.

What might someone find surprising about your job: SOAR Magazine is highly visual therefore topics and photos are imperative components synchronized to create interesting and engaging stories. If a story lacks the visuals to bring it to life, there’s a good chance it won’t make it into SOAR.
