Los Cabos

Set between mountains, desert and two immense bodies of water—the Sea of Cortez and Pacific Ocean—on the southernmost rim of the Baja California peninsula, Los Cabos is truly a place unlike any other. It is comprised of two locales: the city of Cabo San Lucas and the historic town of San José del Cabo. The former is more of a nightlife and party hub, while the latter is a smaller, historic town complete with cobblestone streets and charming boutiques, galleries, and restaurants. In between the two is the resort Golden Corridor, where you will find most of the top beachfront properties in the area.

In general, Los Cabos is Baja California’s answer to the Caribbean and Miami, with visitors flocking to the area for relaxing weekends and winter retreats. It’s also a sportsman’s haven, offering world-class golf, trophy fishing and a host of other activities. There are also beautiful beaches, great dining, and seven stunning hotels that Jet Linx Jet Card clients have preferred access to within the Elevated Lifestyle Preferred Hotel Program.

April, May and November through February are ideal months to visit, with a minimum of four days to appreciate this destination. The weather is comparable to Las Vegas: it can be cool (60s to 70s) in December and January, and extremely hot in the summer months.

Guests should make a point to explore Todos Santos – a colonial fishing village and artist colony where you can stroll the cobbled- streets and breathe in the desert air. Surfers also enjoy the local breaks, which are regarded as some of Mexico’s finest. The area is so enchanting that in 2006, the Mexican government designated Todos Santos a “Pueblo Mágico” — one of just 100 or so small towns honored for its natural beauty, cultural riches, or historical relevance.

Baja California offers many built-in opportunities for adventure, but don’t forget to try hummer safaris, ATV rides in the desert or on the beach, whale watching (December-April), fishing, kayaking, diving, golf, yachting and desert hikes.

One&Only Palmilla is a legendary retreat where the marvels of Mexico come to life in exquisite style. Spacious cliff-side havens and sweeping sea views are cradled in sun-kissed privacy. Offerings include great kids’ program and spa complex, lots of on-site facilities, top dining, and impeccable service. The resort is spread out like a crescent along the beach; the north side is mostly for families while the south side is primarily for couples. Junior suites and one-bedroom suites offer excellent ocean views and include 24-hour butler service, choice of a daily snack, in-room tequila amenities, espresso coffee machines, choice of evening turndown aromatherapy scent and binoculars for seasonal whale watching.

Solaz Los Cabos lies between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, an enticing location for exploration. Guests will rarely feel the need to set foot outside of the four restaurants, three bars, five swimming pools and the 10,000-square-foot Ojo de Liebre Los Cabos spa. Solaz also offers one of the few swimmable beaches in the area with a great design to match. Oceanview rooms offer plunge pools. Options include private terraces with hammocks that provide unobstructed views of the sea.

Viceroy Los Cabos lures visitors with a stunning architectural concept by Miguel Angel Aragonés. On the Sea of Cortez in Baja, at the edge of the horizon, Viceroy Los Cabos contains cinematic views and striking architecture around every turn. The resort is crowned by five restaurants and lounges, a rooftop bar and a holistic-focused spa. The historic colonial streets of San José del Cabo are nearby, as
are endless opportunities for outdoor adventure on land and sea. Exploring the property is a complete journey in itself. Reflecting pools and nest-like canopies, plus floor-to-ceiling glass windows add to the clean lines and refreshing modern styling found on-site.

Villas Del Mar residences more than match their beautiful setting. Included in nightly rates are a private butler, concierge support throughout your stay, daily housekeeping, and a golf cart. Guests also receive access to a private beach club, private fitness facility, spa, restaurant, bar, golf course, and a 50-foot catamaran. It is most famous for its collection of stunning seaside residences and never-ending ocean views, ideal for a long stay or family getaway. Also, the properties are on a swimmable beach, and there is a private beach club with full staff.

Nobu Los Cabos also offers a distinctly different look and feel than most other resorts in the area. This hotel masterfully retains the Nobu traditions of Japanese sensibility and hospitality, while still taking into account the rugged Baja landscape. In each of the hotel’s 200 rooms and suites, guests will find true zen while sleeping in oversized, plush white beds or sitting out on the furnished patios overlooking the ocean – and the teak, onsen-style bathtubs provide an extra layer of luxury not typically found in Mexico, or outside of Japan for that matter. The Nobu restaurant is, of course, the crown jewel of the resort, but Japanese food is certainly not the only option here. Mexican fine dining is offered, as well as elevated poolside snacks.

The Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort and Spa offers an excellent beachside location that also borders downtown Cabo San Lucas. A collection of spacious suites, penthouses, infinity pools with swim-up bars, breathtaking views,
and a deluxe oceanfront spa inspire tranquility at every turn of this property. The property’s ocean-view suites are gorgeously designed with marble floors and counters, a private terrace or balcony, kitchen, and Jacuzzi tub. With eight pools, three restaurants – including a sushi bar, large rooms and upgraded suites with full kitchens and multiple bathrooms – this destination easily accommodates larger groups.

Zadún marks the first distinct property in the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio in Mexico. Set in a secluded location, this remote property was built aligned to a private beach, a short drive from downtown San José del Cabo. Zadún offers 115 rooms, suites and villas distributed in 42 separate buildings with individual access. Each room features its own plunge pool and outdoor terrace for relaxation. Two- and five-bedroom villas with private living room, dining areas and pools are ideal for self-isolation and privacy with your family. Families or small parties traveling together can reserve an entire building.
