Beyond Just Business: Jet Linx Atlanta Connects to their Community
Community and caring are a hallmark of the Jet Linx model… with local teams who take pride in giving back to their city and supporting the causes and charities important to their clients.
The Jet Linx Atlanta team has been active in their support of worthwhile causes in the greater-Atlanta area since the Base was initially founded in 2013. The fall of 2019 was alive with fundraisers and events that allowed the Base to make a meaningful impact.
The spirit of service is alive at all levels of the Atlanta Base. “It starts from the top – our Base Partner, John Snodgrass, is a true philanthropist who has inspired the entire team to get involved in the community through charity events. That sense of service defines our team. Not only do these events offer a chance to meet different professionals in our community, but they allow us to showcase what Jet Linx is truly about… a local company with values that extend beyond just being here for business,” explained Meghan Hogan, Director of Jet Card Sales.
“Our entire team takes immense pride in our philanthropic efforts, from our continued support of the Charity Claysevent to HOPE Atlanta. Giving back is part of who we are. We personally support these charities because they are near and dear to the hearts of not only our team, but our Jet Card members. We enjoy showing solidarity with our growing community of local clients,” added Maggie Shepard, Director of Jet Card Sales.
Since joining Jet Linx, both Hogan and Shepard have found a connection to the company’s culture of community involvement. Last September, members of the team supported HOPE Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that addresses homelessness and provides solutions that promote lifelong stability. Their golf-focused September 2019 event, aptly named “On Par to End Homelessness,” took place at TopGolf Midtown in Atlanta. The Atlanta team served as a “Caddy” sponsor for the inaugural event at which Hogan attended alongside Tracy Thomas, Jet Linx Atlanta Administrative Analyst.
In total, the event raised $24,000 to prevent homelessness in Atlanta, and the incredible turnout made a lasting impression. Hogan shared, “The dedication and excitement are impressive. There was a huge turnout for the evening. It’s a well-organized program that we are happy to support.”
On September 21, both Hogan and Shepard attended the Evening of Hope Gala for Andee’s Army Youth Brain & Spinal Cord Foundation. The Gala supports patient programs at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Shepherd Center. Andee’s Army is an important charity to many in the Jet Linx Atlanta member family – the team found these connections added a special sense of shared purpose.
An important message of hope came from the nonprofit’s namesake. As a child, Andee suffered a traumatic brain injury. The generosity of others was instrumental in her recovery. Andee spoke at the fundraiser, thanking the “army” that supported her.
“Andee was an impressive speaker, and it was amazing to see what the organization can do to help children with traumatic injuries,” Shepard offered. “Our Atlanta team was thrilled to share a room filled with Andee’s Army supporters and our clients. The money raised will have a lasting impact on the lives of others.”
Buckhead Christian Ministry
The “Tee It Up” golf tournament, organized by the Buckhead Christian Ministry, also drew support from the Jet Linx Atlanta team. The organization helps at-risk, working parents across Atlanta overcome crisis to change the course of their lives and the lives of their children. Program participants are taught money management and other skills to help advance their education and careers.
The Peachtree Golf Club, ranked as a U.S. Top 100 Golf Course, hosted the “Tee It Up” event. Jet Linx Atlanta served as both a Caddy Sponsor and a Hole Sponsor for the day, with Hogan and Shepard present at a post-tournament reception. Golf carts at the event displayed the Jet Linx logo, so the team fielded plenty of questions from curious players.
Benefits of Laughter & Hooray for Hollywood
In October, the Jet Linx Atlanta team brought their passion for the Atlanta community to two fundraising events. On October 22, Hogan, Shepard, and Snodgrass attended Benefits of Laughter at the St. Regis Atlanta, where Jet Linx was a Gold Sponsor. The event features a different comedic guest each year, bringing laughter to more than 600 of Atlanta’s business, community and philanthropic leaders. Benefits of Laughter has raised more than $14 million to support life-changing therapeutic programs at Skyland Trail, a nationally recognized nonprofit mental health treatment organization serving adults and adolescents. Popular entertainer Wayne Brady was one of the comedians on stage that night, and Shepard got to join him in front of the audience.
“Out of nearly 500 people in the audience, I still can’t believe I was chosen to share the stage with Wayne Brady. It was such a fun event and for such a great cause!” Shepard exclaimed.
Just two days later, Shepard attended the eighth annual Hooray for Hollywood gala for Fix Georgia Pets. This Atlanta-based nonprofit works with recognized low-cost spay/neuter organizations to combat the significant pet overpopulation in the state. In the past three years, Fix Georgia Pets has awarded over $500,000 to 26 partner organizations. It has provided two transport vans, allowing clinics to serve more animals in their region. These efforts have dramatically decreased the number of animals in Georgia’s shelters.
The flurry of community engagement at the close of 2019 reflects the Base’s year-round efforts. Team members at Jet Linx Atlanta have set an admirable standard of what it means to be actively involved in a local community. “You see a passion for community from everyone here,” said Hogan. “From our Atlanta Base, Jet Linx can offer access to nearly anywhere in the world. But for our clients, and for us, this is home. We are committed to the causes that work to make Atlanta better.”
