The Aloha State, known far and wide for beautiful beaches and alluring natural wonder, received an elite upgrade with the opening of ESPACIO, The Jewel of Waikiki, a Forbes Five-Star hotel. Perhaps the ultimate oceanfront escape, the boutique hotel offers only nine ‘suites.’ By ‘suites,’ we mean a fully-appointed, 2,250-square-foot floor. That means no next door neighbors, meaning you can thoroughly enjoy your ocean-view balcony with Jacuzzi.

The approach to hospitality is inspired by ‘omotenashi,’ which means anticipating guests’ every want. Butler and concierge service, complimentary admission to museums and hotels, in-suite chef-prepared meals, even the option to redesign a room with more season décor – there’s no task too big or small. Imagine whale-watching from the rooftop infinity pool overlooking Waikiki Beach – all while a Japanese-French fusion dinner is prepared tableside. Faena Hotel

Miami Beach, Florida

With a beachside location near some of Miami’s buzziest bars, restaurant and art, the Faena Hotel is the kind of place we all dream of when we envision a modern Miami experience with flash and sophistication. The property is a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of South Beach, but within proximity for travelers looking for some action.

This 169-room luxury resort has amassed loyal guests because of notable features such as furnished balconies, butler service, two chef-led restaurants, four bars, a kids club and well-serviced beach and pool areas.

The hotel makes the most of its 100,000 square feet of private white sand beach with the Faena Beach Club, featuring red-and-white candy-striped lounge chairs, plus a range of private cabanas that can accommodate large groups. Poolside butlers are there to indulge your every need or craving, so travelers who like to remain as relaxed as possible will have everything at their fingertips. While on the larger side, it’s no mega-resort. Faena offers a bit of everything, from fine dining, art, a pampering spa, fantastic beach club and activities for kids. Malliouhana

Anguilla

Nestled into the tropical paradise of Anguilla, Malliouhana was the luxury hotel that put this unspoiled Caribbean Isle on the map. Since being taken over by Auberge Resorts Collection in 2014, it now offers a fresher perspective on Caribbean luxury, with a distinct California twist.

Although there are 63 rooms, two swimming pools, access to two beaches and a variety of other amenities, you’ll spend most time trotting between the pool and the beach, so pack your designer suit and your most stylish sarongs.

The island of Anguilla flexes more than 33-seemingly untouched beaches, and Malliouhana spans 1.5 miles on sugary-sand beach, making it a perfect destination to unwind and play castaway.

Set along Turtle Cove, there are ample activities on offer within the resort’s 25 acres—from kayaking to stand-up paddle boarding, kite-surfing, beachfront horse-riding, and outdoor yoga classes. Another favorite diversion is a rum tasting with an in-house “rummelier.”

At Malliouhana, the stars of the show are the grounds and setting: blossoming flowers, tropical fruit trees and stunning clifftop ocean views. The typical do-anything-to-please service, two infinity pools with cabanas and waiter service, plus miles of flour-soft sand will form the magic of this Caribbean getaway. This explains why many loyal guests return year after year.

Belmond La Samanna

St. Martin

Overlooking an idyllic golden stretch of sand, this sparkling resort is beloved by the international jet setters for good reason. In 2018, the entire property received a complete refresh, with fabrics and furniture inspired by shells and sea life.

The property lies far from the casinos and cruise ships of St. Martin, placing guests in the quiet oasis of Baie Longue beach. Whitewashed suites rest high on a cliff, with gentle waves, lush gardens and a cabana-dotted private beach.

Guests need not pack much more than a swimsuit at Belmond La Samanna. Aside from a main pool and a beautiful infinity pool, the big draw of the island is, predictably, its beaches, and La Samanna is set on one of the very best spots there is. Of course, there are certainly no crowds to worry about here. Baie Longue is virtually private because the only way to access this beach is via the resort.

The hotel has plenty of watersports to occupy most vacations, including snorkeling and kayaks. The waves are gentle and the sand soft, but if you’d like a change, head to nearby Mullet Bay, Long Bay or Baie Rouge to spread your beach towel. The hotel can also arrange boat charters for those who’d like to fish or scuba.

Whatever you choose to do, the ocean and the beach will be center of mind, as most restaurants also specialize in fresh fish brought from surrounding waters.

Viceroy Los Cabos

Los Cabos, Mexico

An all-white watery retreat in Baja California, Viceroy Los Cabos is a taste of the future, with floors made of water, bird’s-nest-shaped restaurants and looming white buildings straight out of a sci-fi blockbuster.
