ARG/US, the Platinum Safety Seal.
ARGUS International (ARG/US) is the worldwide leader in performing on-site safety audits for corporate flight departments, charter operators, and commercial airlines. ARG/US provides an internal evaluation checklist each month that ensures our Safety Management System is developing the culture needed to meet the safety standards set by ARG/US, IS-BAO and the FAA.
Jet Linx earned an ARG/US Platinum Safety Rating, the highest safety rating awarded to an operator, after completing an intensive onsite audit of our operations in 2005. And we have earned a Platinum safety rating every year since. Of the 2,300 Part 135 operators in the United States, less than 4% have earned a Platinum rating.
IS-BAO, the “Gold” Certification.
In 2000, the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) initiated a project to create an industry code of practice for managing the safety, security, efficiency and effectiveness of a business aircraft operator. After two years of feedback and testing by numerous flight departments in the United States and Europe, The International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations, or IS-BAO, was approved.
IS-BAO has become a globally accepted “gold seal” for business aviation operations attesting to the highest standards in safety and efficiency. There is no doubt that the IS- BAO standard will soon be recognized as the industry standard worldwide. Jet Linx earned IS-BAO certification in 2009.
Safety Management System (SMS).
The Jet Linx Safety Management System (SMS) was designed to provide the necessary training and equipment to enable our crews to complete their assigned tasks in the safest and most efficient manner. We implemented our Safety Management System in 2006, five years before the FAA announced they would require Part 135 operators to have a formal Safety Management System in place. To ensure our SMS is maintained, practiced, and up to date, we have partnered with ARG/US for continued internal evaluation of the program.
Crew Resource Management (CRM).
In 2007 we began sending our pilots through an industry-leading Crew Resource Management (CRM) training program to nurture better communication between our pilots with the goal of creating a safer flight deck environment. The training includes Human Factors training, Communication Skills training, and Situational Awareness training.
Since 2007, we have taken it a step further by developing our own in-house CRM training program and we’ve had it approved by the FAA. And because we believe so strongly in the platform, we now even require our flight coordinators, client service representatives, maintenance technicians, and line service personnel to attend CRM classes annually as they are an extension of the crew, on the ground. In 2011, the FAA issued a statement making it mandatory for all companies to implement CRM training for their pilots.
It’s often said that an experienced, well trained pilot is the most important safety device in an aircraft – we agree! Jet Linx pilots receive initial training in the aircraft they will be flying, this training consists of both ground school covering aircraft systems and simulator training. After the training is complete they must pass a check ride with an FAA flight inspector. Our pilots also receive recurrent training, which includes aircraft systems reviews and simulator training.
