JET LINX MINNEAPOLIS LOCAL HISTORY
KFCM dates to 1941, when Eden Prairie farmer Martin 'Pappy' Grill constructed a landing strip on his family farm to assist U.S. Navy pilot training during WWII. By 1966, Flying Cloud Airport ranked second only to Chicago O'Hare as the busiest airport in the central United States. KFCM is now the busiest airport in the Metropolitan Airports Commission's reliever system, with more than 100,000 operations per year.
